I returned home from work this evening to find that wonderful little white box with the blue ice cream on it sitting my the bottom of the stairs. That’s right folks, February’s Fancy Box is here and this is what was in mine!
February’s Fancy Box
I am going to upload a video review of this months Fancy Box which will be posted as a new blog post once I get around to it. I will go in to the items and how I feel about them in the video as well as give an overall review of the box.
Back to this blog post and the items that were in this months Fancy Box:
Item Number 1
Tube City Beanie $20
Tube City is the ultimate in classic beanies. A multi-purpose you can wear as is or cuff to your desired length.

Cordies $15
Cordies keeps all of your cables organized and weighted down: phone chargers, digital camera cords, audio cables… whatever isn’t in use but shouldn’t be flopping around.

Doomed Crystal Skull Shot Glass $20 Each
This is a double-walled shotglass, but instead of the inner wall being shaped like a shotglass, it’s shaped like a skull. When you pour in your favorite spirit, it inhabits the inner skull, coloring it in quite nicely. As a bonus, it also keeps the beverage in the shot glass cooler, if it takes you a while to build up the courage to drink it.
Holds 2.5 ounces
Hand blown crystal clear borosilicate glass.
Overall Review
First thing that comes in to my head is that Fancy have increased the price of box (although I haven’t incurred this, it has happened) and I had $100 which is probably (looking back at my other boxes) one of the lowest amounts I have had in my Fancy Box. However, and I do not want to come across ungrateful as I am, Fancy have pulled out some stops in this as they have provided me with $20 more worth of stuff than the quoted “at least $80″.
I’ll be using the ‘Cordies’ for my desk as I have my MacBook Pro MagSafe cable, iPhone cables, headphones cables, hard drive cables and god knows what other cables going around my desk! I love beanies, so the Tube City Beanie will get worn at times. I like to Party & I like shots, so the skull shot glasses will of course be used and finally the iHome Speaker will be given to a very dear friend of mine who is in the market for one and will see if it is any good!
Again, I will be posting a video review on the blog (no doubt after tea as I really need to get some food, I am starving!).

I have mixed emotions on the box Paul, but overall I can’t complain as I have definitely got my monies worth! Disappointed that they put 2 Shot Glasses in and didn’t put a different item in.
Will be interesting to see what you do get thats different in yours.

Just received my Fancy Box and have the same mixed feelings as yourself, they have really exceeded the proposed budget when it was $30 for $60 so when they increased it to $39 for $80 I was definitely excited.
My box this month came to a total of $86 so I too have mixed feelings however feel I will be sticking with it.

Definitely stick with it! It’s something that’s only 4 months old & they’ll have months where they get it bang on & other months where you’ll feel they could of done better! I like your thinking there! I might do that too just to see how good it is!

I’ve been keeping track of your blog to see what other people receive since I ordered my first box (now 5 in), and I must say you’re doing a great job. Anyway, on to my reply:
I received exactly the same as you did this month from the Home, Men’s, and Workspace categories. I had a couple of problems with the selection to be honest;
1. The speaker is a gadget – it even Fancys to that list on the site – and shouldn’t really have come in my box.
2. Given the claim of sending some of the most “Fancy’d” items on the site in the box I’m not really impressed they included two items (speaker & beanie) which had less than 30 Fancys each when I checked them yesterday.
I emailed CS about this and got a fob off reply glossing over (read: ignoring) the fact I was sent an item from a category I did not select and going on to say that most fancied items are usually too rare and expensive to send to thousands of people (ed: just for example the skull shot glasses have over 30,000 Fancys).
If this was my first box I probably would cancel my subscription to be honest, but given what I have received in the past I am willing to let them off. To those who have just got your first box or are considering ordering I will finish by saying that I feel this is value for money, and while you may get the odd “duff” box or item the majority will make up for it.

I do feel the same about the claim ‘the most fancied items’ as sometimes it just doesn’t seem like they are sending us those items. I’m shocked to see that CS said that most of the items are too expensive/rare, I’ve seen plenty of items that are reasonably priced & could be included. They need to remember that not every fancy box should have the same items! Make then even more unique is what I say!
I can understand the odd ‘slip up’ when an item is packed from a different category, I’d give them the benefit of the doubt on that at least once.
Im pleased I’m not the only one who realises that you’ll get good boxes & some iffy ones, but overall the value is there to keep me subscribing
Got my box today and got a few different things than you (guess I have other categories). Got the speakers (ihm63), cordies, cold fish ice cube tray, hommade cookie stamper and chunky knit infinity scarf. I am overall happy, it wasnt really anything super ‘cool’ or whatever. But I like what I got and Im looking forward to next month!
I can see the similarities in the boxes, my hat/your scarf then the ice cube tray & cookie stamper are like my 2 shot glasses. I think this months box is going to be an average one for all!
Probably the hat for men’s and outdoors (maybe?) and the scarf for women’s?
I am kinda happy I didn’t get the shot glasses, they are valued for more than the items I got (15$ each), but I find them kinda tacky and I would probably never use them!
As I said in my video review, they were plastic like & looked very cheap

I’m going to use the code for next month so it will cost me a bit less. I think I’ve been so excited by the things you got previously that this one was a little disappointing especially since I chose different categories. I don’t think I’m going to try the other boxes. At the end of the day, whatever I get with them replaces what I’d get in the normal box.

Hi can you tell me how much you are charged for shipping? I live in Edinburgh,Scotland and I wasn’t sure if it would be worth my while ordering the box,although I would love it. I pay $17 for shipping. It’s delivered by FedEx & takes 3-5 days.
Although it seems a lot, the box is pretty big & the service is great.
